Melbourne, February 23. In connection with the recent street shooting tragedy, Holt has been acquitted on tho charge of murdering Tullidge. [Tullidge divorced his wife, Holt being co-respondent. After tho divorce, Tullidge accosted Holt and Mrs. Tullidge in the street. A scuffle ensued, in which Tullidge was shot dead.] JAPANESE LOAN. Tokio, February 23. A City of Tokio five per cent, loan of £9,175,000, at £98 per cent., for the ipunicipalisation of tramways anil electric lighting, has been issued in London, New York, nnd Paris. Tho French port/on of M,000,000 was subscribed sevenfold. AUTOMATIC PISTOL FOR NAVY. London, February 23. The Webley .55 automatic pistol has been adopted for uso in the Navy. MINISTERIAL CHANGES. London, February 22. Mr. W. Dudley Ward, M.P., has resigned the Treasurership of tho Royal Household, for personal reasons. Captain the Hon. F. E. Guest. M.P., succeeds him. Sir A. Hawortli, M.P., replaces Captain Guest as a Junior Lord of the Treasury. WRECK OF THE DELHI. London, February 22. At the inquiry regarding the loss of ■ the P. and 0. steamer Delhi, near Capo Spartol, on tho north-west coast of Morocco, in December last, Captain Hayward, in his evidence, said his chart was dated 1905. An up-to-dato chart showed alterations in tho soundings. PRIVY COUNCIL APPEAL. London, February 22. Tho Judicial Committee of tho Privy Council dismissed the appeal case Dunne versus Byrne. Costs are to bo paid out of tho estate. JAPANESE LOAN FOR MANCHURIA. St. Petersburg, February 22. A Mukden telegram states that the authorities in Mongolia have aceeptcd a Japanese loan, owing to Russia's failure to reply to a request tuado for a loan, TAXI-CABS BLOWN UP. Paris, February 22. _ Four bombs exploded in different taxicab garages. Two chauffeurs were injured and a number of cabs wrecked. PORTUGUESE PRISONERS ESCAPE. Lisbon, February 22. Twelve persons charged with conspiracy escaped from Portuguese fortresses by lowering themselves with knotted ropes. BOMBAY COTTON FIRE. Bombay, February 22. The fire in tho cotton greens lasted 12 hours, and was the most destructive in India's history. The loss of cotton has caused a speculative riso of two or three rupees per candy (5G01b.). MOTOR COLLISION. Sydney, February 23. A collision between a railway motor and a goods train occurred at Nownes. Tho motor was smashed, and four passengers injured, none seriously. KING OF DENMARK.
