The shipment of Nelson apples to Loudon, which is to ho made by the New Zealand Shipping- Company's steamer A'aipara next month, will (Vavs the ".Mail") consist of fiOflO or 7000 eases*. Hitherto the apples have been sent from Nelson, but <m this occasion the fruit is to he sent to Wellington and transhipped into the ICaipnra. Huxton and Co. are handling the shipment, and this firm's expert packer with assistants is now at work sacking fruit for (he London shipment. Most of this season's shipment will come from the Motuoka district, but the Wnimea growers will be represented to the extent of 1000 or more cases. The Kaipara is being specially fitted up for the apple shipment, and an apparatus is being installed which is intended to secure a uniform temperature throughout the apple chamber. A Government tonus of .£SO is this year offered for the steamer which, lauds her cargo of fruit in Loudon in good condition, ft is understood that the Ship-, ping Conipanv will supplement the bonus. Therefore there is every inducement for the officers of the steamer to make the shipment n success.
