MOANA ARRIVES 8 A.M. By wireless, tho Jloana advised last evening that it was expected to arrive at Wellington from Sydney at 8 aju. to-day. She berths at the Queen's Wharf No. 6. At the time of dispatch the vessel was 163 miles distant, and tho message added that i'twas raining heavily. lONIC DUE SATURDAY. Owing to her late departure from nobart, R.M.S. lonic will not arrive at Wellington until early on Saturday morning. The vessel cleared the Taemaniau port at 3 a.m. yesterday. ARAWA REPORTED. Cable advice received by the local agents for the Shaw, Savill and Albion Co. is to the effect that K.M.S. Arawa left Rio do Janeiro, in continuation of her journey from Wellington to London, on Monday morning. February 19. The vessel is due at the Home port- on March 8.

HOLMDALE IN ROUGH WEATHUK. After a stormv and eventful voyage of five, and a half days the. Maoriland Steam Ship Company's Jlolmdale arrived at Lyttelton on Sunday morning with a full cargo of timber. During the run from the- West Coast port the vessel experienced more than ber share of the rough weather that has been prevailing round the coast for the past weak or so, and on several occasions she received a very rough handling. Leaving Greymoiuh at nine o'clock on Monday evening, February 12, the vessel was off" Cape Farewell ot 3.50 a.m. on Wednesday last. A strong north-west gale was raging at the time, the vessel continually being awash. A', six o'clock tho same morning she shipped a big lica, which broke through and filled her stokehold. The engines were at once stopped and the old "saiier" again donned her canvas (sta-tes the "LvUelton Times"). At half-past two the. tires were again lighted, and the vessel made for liangatota Idaiul, where she tool! shelter until miduight on Thursday. Resuming her vovagc, the Ilolmdale made for Caoc Campbell, but tho strong southerly gale raging made tho journey a hard one, and tho vessel had to seek shelter until five o'clock on Saturday. From this out, the wind ar.d sea, moderated con.-idc-r-D.bly. From the southern port the Holinda'c proceeds to Picton, to load for Itoki-n-njra. At. the latter port flic will load timber for Wellington.

TAINni FOR LONDON. Bound for London, via way ports, the Shaw, Savill R.M.S. Tainui is scheduled to lake her departure from the Glasgow Wharf, Wellington, at 4 p.m. to-morrow. The liner is due at her destination on April 5. RE-MUERA LEAVES HOME. Cable artvi«) received from Plymouth yesterday stated that- the New Zealand Shippin" Company's Remnc-ra. left the South of England port for Wellington, via way ports, on Saturday. February 17. Yesterday the Melbourne Steamship Co.'s steamer Melbourne arrived at Wellington from Newcastle, after a fair weather run acro's the T.isman Pea. The vessel berthed at the Taranaki Street Wharf to discharge EOS tons or coal. Lyttelton is her next port of call, and 12C0 tons will be put out there. The enruo is consigned to Messrs. Rcdpath and Sou. ■Va arrival at Melbourne from London on Monda-v last was the Ty?er iinqr Vv'hakarua. 'The vossel visits Sydney. Auckland, and Napier, en route to Wellington, and is due here about March 15. In continuation of her journey from Greynouth to Wellington, via way ports, the Arahnra left Westport. at 9 p.m. yesterdav. Calls will be made at Nelson and Pieton to-day, and the vessel should arrive here about 10 o'clock this evening.

With a cargo of shocrp to lilt the TaTiuni will arrive in port from Lyttc-lton tomorrow. She returns to the southern port tin' same evening. Iniiuiry at the office of the local agents for Ihe Chatham islands trader Himitangi yesterday elicited the information that no anxiety need be felt concerning the vessel's nonappearance at Lyttelton from the J-slands. As a matter of fact, she had eight places to" call at thifi trip, and has no doubt been delayed by bad weather. The liiiuitangi should show up within the next couple of days.
