Mr. A. A. Corrigan, late manager of the D.1.C., who is leaving for England by the Tainui, has received n letter from the managing director of the D.1.C., expressing regret at his retirement affer 21 years' control of the Wellington branch of the firm, and saying, inter alia:—"You have held the position of Wellington manager ever since the company opened in that city in November, ]S!)0. During (he whole of that long period you have possessed, and still possess, the entire confidence and esteem of all members of the board. You have devoted yourself wholeheartedly to tho business of tho company, and have not spared yourself in any way. On behalf of myself and my co-dir'ector'si I wish you every success in'whatever you may undcrtako in the future."
Mr.. John Graham, late, M.P. for Nolson, arrived in Wellington last night by the Pateena en route to Great Britain. He will lem-e Wellington by the Manuka on Friday for Sydney, where he will join the Orvicto, which will leave that port on March 111. Mr. Graham will be accompanied by Mrs. Grnliam. Prior to leaving Nelson, Mr. Graham received a presentalion to mark the esteem iir which ho wa.s held, and also as a recognition of his work us.a public man, and on leaving by the. Patecna he and Mr« Graham were farcwellcd by a large number of friend?,
A farewell social was tendered to the Per. C. G. Mutter by the members of Si. Peter's Lawn Tennis Club, in St. Peter's Hall, on Monday evening. On behalf of the club, the president (Archdeacon C. C. Harper) presented Mr. Mutter with a revolving oak chair, suitably inscribed, and in doing so referred to the recipient's untiring efforts in forming the club. A mu<ical programme brightened the proceedings.
Messrs, G-torge Fenwick. Smith, Barr, Armstrong, and Eivrland (Dunedin), Weston (Xew Plymouth), and Kerr (Timaru) left Timaru for Fairlie on Friday evening en route for Greymouth, via flic Hermitage ind Copelond Pass.
