SOCIAL AND PERSONAL.
On Saturday morning, at the residence of her daughter, Tβ Whiti Street, Kilbirnie, the death took place of Mrs. Elizabeth Jane liter. Two (laughters survive her. Mrs. John Wells Chapman, mid Mrs. G. Lawtou. The late Mrs. Beer came to ,the Dominion about forty-five years ago, and it is only eighteen, months since the death of her husband took place.
J[r. and Mrs. Dcvenish-lfearos and Miss Meares arrived in Wellington from tho south on Sunday, Miss Menres's wedding is to take place to-day.
Mr. and Mrs. C. W. Tringham left Wellington for tho south on Saturday.
The opening of the Children's Hospital, at Xewtown, is to take place on March 13, his Excellency the Governor performing the opeaing ceremony.
Miss Geraldinc Broid, formerly of the Wellington Hospital nnrsinij staff, is returning to New; Zealand next month, via Sydney. She is travelling by tho Blue Funnel liner Anchises, due in Sydney about March 8.
Miss Kitty Caselberg, who has been spending several months with her peoplo in Masterton, intends returning to South Africa in April.
Miss Vida Halse, Greytown, is staying with Mrs. St. George, Masterton.
Mr. and Mrs. Harry Hume have arrived in Masterton from Aohanga, and will be present at the show.
Mrs. Ormond Cooper and her children have returned to Masterton from Scatoun, where they have been spending the last few weeks.
The wedding took place at Eketahuna last week of Miss Milly Murrcll, daughter of Mr.'and Mrs. 11. Murrell, of Kkctahuna, and Mr. V. Bebbington, of Manchester, England.
Mrs. Newton King,"who has been on a visit to Wellington, has returned to New Plymouth.
Mrs. Hewson, of Foiton, is Tisiting Wellington, and is the guost of Mrs. Francis Stevens, Oriental Bay.
Miss Collins is to be the guest of Mrs, Coburn Hood during the Masterton. show, To-day is the opening day.
Ifisa Elder leaves for Jlasterton to-day, to attend the Masterton show.
Mrs. Grace, Hawkestone Street, leaves Wellington by the Athenic for England on April 18. .
JIY. and Mrs. John Duncan and Miss Duncan leave by the Athenic. on April 18, on a" visit to England.
The Itev. Mr. Evans, Miss Evans, and family, who have been staying at Peatoun, return to JJew Plymouth to-dny.
