COSTS GIVEN AGAINST THEM. On Friday, Mr. W. G. Riddoll, S.M., heard a case in which tho police proceeded against Alexander Hose on a charge of being disorderly while drunk. The inforjnation was dismissed, and Mv. J. J. M'Grath, council for the defendant, asked for costs against the police, he claiming that tho circumstances wore unusual, and the arrest an outrage. His Worship gave his \answer to the request on Saturday morning. "It is unusual in these cases," he said to allow costs against the police, but I think this is a case in which they should be allowed, and I propose to allow them."

Tho expenses allowed were: Seven witnesses at fls. each, doctor £1 Is., solicitor --C'l Is., and disbursements on the whole of the subpoenas £1 2s.i total, O,'G 7s.
