Many who had not reserved seats were unable to obtain admission. The events were got off promptly, and were followed with keen interest. Results;—

100 yds. Championship. First heat: C Brice (Tliorndon, Wellington), 1; li. Weston (Ponsonby, Auckland), 2. A splendid Mnrt was effected. Jerred led for the first length, but lost his.turn. He however led at the second turn, but, at SO yards, Brice took the lead, and maintained it to the finish, winning by two feet. Weston won second place from Jerred by six inches. Also competed: .W. Claringbold (Wangantii). Time, GO 3-ssec. „ . Second heat: W. E. Cookson (East Christchnrch), 1; A. O'Hare (Waitemata, Auckland), a. Also competed: C. Welson (Waitemata), and Geoffrey Seymour (Napier). Welson and Cookson made the pace, and ■ Welson won by three yards, but, having failed to touch the top of the bath, was disqualified. Welson s was the only time taken. ; Third heat: M. E. Champion (\\ aitemata), 1; J. D. Stewart (Waitemata), 2. Also competed: H. Wnlden (Hastings). E. J. Dawson (Dmiedin), and li. Healy (Xew South Wales). Champion and Stewart touched at the top of the hrst length. At 66 2-.'! yds Champion was two vards ahead and finished four yards ahead of Stewart. Time, 66 2-ssec. Final: M. O'Hare : 3 At the top at the first turn Champion and Brice touched .simultaneously, but, nt 66 l-3yds., Champion was three yards ahead of Weston, and won easily bv four yards. Kernot (Ponsonby). Champion s time was 25min. lrsec, Newman's 27min. 35sec, nnd Hill's 29min. 5 1-s?ec. Champion won by four laps from Newman, and the latter secured second place by three laps from Hill. WELLINGTON REGATTA. The majority of the visiting oarsmen engaged at the W.R.A. regatta on the harbour to-morrow afternoon are now in town. The members of the Wanganui Union senior crew have been here since Wednesday, having stopped over on their way back from the championship regatta at Lake Waihola. The remainder of the Waiigamii contingent arrive by train, tonight. The Picton, Blenheim, Wairau, XelFon, and Kawiitiri contingents arrived yesterday, sonw of the Christchurch representatives, from the Canterbury and Avon Clubs, this morning, and the remainder are expected to-morrow morning. This will complete one of the largest and most representative gatherings of oarsmen there has been in Wellington, and the meeting of the various crews should be productive of good racing and yocd rowing. In one race, the Maiden Fours, timed for 1.15 p.m., m> fewer than n crews will start. The arrangements arc set out in our advertising columns.
