PIPE BANDS' PICNIC.
The Wellington Pipe Band and Dancers' Club held their annual picnic on Saturday last, proceeding to Taita in drags, where a most enjoyable day was spent. Sports for old and young and Highland dancing occupied the whole of the afternoon. A start was made for home at 7 p.m., to tho skirl of the pipes. Following are the results of the sports:— 100 yds. handicap—A. Anderson, 1; R. Hogg, 2. 50yds. married ladies' race — Mrs. J. Taylor, 1; Mesdamos Reid and Shaw tied for second. 75yds. young ladies' race—Miss B. Clark, 1; Miss A. Tancred, 2. 100 yds. boys' handicap—K. Cameron, 1; A. Shaw, 2. 75yds. girls' handicap—G. Coy, 1; L. Reid, 2. 50yds. small boys' nice—P. Reid, 1; C. Shaw", 2; W. M'pillivniy, 3. 50yds. small girls' race—N. Constant, 1; J." M'Gillivray, 2. Puttiiig-the-shot—,l. Taylor, 1; A. Reid, 2. The president's prize of a handsome hand-bag was won by Mrs. Taylor. All other prizes were, in cash.
