"January 11, J912. "Dear Sir,—lt is felt by my company am! by many of the property holders of Day's Bay,' with whom the writer has conversed, (hat Ihe time is fast approaching when the matter of the drainage of sewage in Day's Bay will require to beseriously considered. With drainage, the. question of water supply must also be included, as the 'one cannot be effective without the other. There is plenty of water at Day's Bay, and there should be no engineering difficulties to- overcome so far n.s drainage is concerned.. All could be done by gravitation into a common septic tank on the foreshore, should this method of drainage be considered suitable by your engineer, and no other difficulties present themselves. The matter is one which a local body only ran deal with, and I now write to ask you if your council is .by .law empowered to undertake such n work; and whether, in the event of (he majority of residents and property holders in Day's Bay expressing their willingness to allow, the Bay to be formed into n special rating district for the purpose of dealing with drainage and water supply, the council would be willing to take the necessary preliminary steps to the cost of the inggested undertaking.—Yours • faithfully, "K.
