In reference to Rpofi'orth's views on the selection of Test players, the chairman and secretary of the Boavd of Control say that Spofforlh has been so long out of touch with Australian cricket, ami knows nothing of the altered conditions, that he is not in a position to criticise. In an interview published in the "Pall Mall Gazette." SpofYorUi said that the Board of Control was composed of cricketers who thought they knew a great deal, but it was impossible to judjje players from the pavilion. The board required more playing members. Teams, lip said, should'bo selected by three players who ware certainties.
