PLASTERERS' DISPUTE.

ALL BUILDERS TO BE CITED. The Conciliation Commissioner, Mr. P. Hally, sat yesterday with a council to hear tho dispute which lias recently been raised between the Plasterers' Union and the employers of plasterers in ■Wellington. Messrs. A. Aitken, C. Siovwright, and Jv. Burton were the assessors appointed by the union, and Messrs. A. Wilson, ]•'. Foley, and T. L'uioiiy Ijy the employers. All were present except Mr Kmcny.'Mr. L. Kennedy appeared as agent lor the union, and Jlr. \V. A. \V. llrcnfcll for thn employers. After the names of the |>aities cited had been read by the Commissioner, an objection was raised by Mr. (irenfell, on behalf of the Wellington Builders' Association, that the members of the association had not been made parlies to tho dispute. He stated.that,'while a certain section of employers who were members of the association had been cited, the major portion had not, and he thought it advisable that an opportunity should bo given to him to ascertain tho opinion of members of the association.

Mr. Kennedy, .in reply, stated that tho persons oited by the union' wera the builders who usually employed plasterers, and he challenged any employer present to give the name or names of any employers of plasterers who had been omitted from, the . list. ■

Mr. A. Wilson and Air. Foley gave the names of four or five prominent builders who had net been cited.

After further discussion, the Commissioner stated that in the interests of all concerned he thought it advisable that the council should .adjourn _ until February IG, which was the earliest possible date on which he could sit to hear the dispute. If in the meantime it was possible to .bring about a settlement by moans of a private conference between tho parties, he would be onlv too willing to assist them. Ho also directed that all parties to bo bound by the award must bo cited.
