"The Times" states that, despite the report /of the ' Financial Committee, the Government has decided that Irish Customs and Excise shall remain under Imperial control. Messrs. J. Redmond and J. Dillon. M.P.'s/ agree with the decision, but good judges believe that tho -.National Assembly; will reject the Home Rule Bill unless it provides for fiscal autonomy. Tho "Chronicle," in a forecast of the Bill, however, states that Ireland has full control of the Customs and Excise subject to the continuanco of British Free-trade, and will receive a subsidy of .£2,000,000 annually for fifteen years. MELBOURNE LOYALISTS. London, February 2. Sir Edward Carson, M.P., has received a cable message promising the support of GOOO Melbourne loyalists in tho campaign against Home Rule for Ireland. IRELAND'S CLAIMS. (Rec. February 4, 5.5 p.m.) London, February 3. Mr. J. M. Robertson, M.P. for Tyncside, speaking in London, said the real difficulty about Home Rule was Ireland's claim to complete, absolute and unchecked fiscal autonomy which, if granted, would imply disintegration of the United Kingdom. "There was no hope for a Home Rule Bill oinbodying such a claim." PROTESTS FROM RELIGIOUS BODIES. (Rec. February 4, 5.5 p.m.) London, February 3. Ulster Methodists are arranging a convention to protest against Homo Rule.
Of six hundred Presbyterian Ministers in Ireland ono hundred and ten refused to join in the protest recently made.
