Hubert Blair, who was a very wellknown resident of Auckland until a lew years ago, when he went to Australia, died at Glenalvon oji Wednesday morning. His father, Mr. David Blair, was a sawmillor at -Thames, and he originated tho syndicate from which the present Kauri Timber Company was formed. Mr. Robert Blair was connected with the company from tho start, and for a long period was its manager in Auckland. About six years ago Mt. Blair went to Australia, and for a short period acted as agent in Mell>ourno for tho Mitchelson Timber Company. He then set up on his own account as a general timber agent in Melbourne, and later on took his brother into partnership with him. At the Government Printing Office last oTenjn, Mr. .T. Black, who is leaving Wellington to take up tho position ot overseer of the jobbing department of tho "Uawera Star," was presented by the 'time-room companionship with a travel-lTng-bag.
