S.S. CROYDON OVERDUE.
, POSSIBLE CAUSES OF DELAY. (By Tcleeraph-Prcss AsEOciatlon.) Auckland, January 31. It is now time that the Australian Mail Line steamer Croydon, which left San Francisco on December 22 for Auckland, was reported and hor arrival ie looked for daily. She should haw put in on appearance at the beginning of last week, but she is now forty days out. Inquiry made in regard to' (he vev,el from the Island steamers that have arrival hiis elicited nothing ns to her whereabouts.
Tin local agents state, however, thwt the vessel's non-appearance is causing no anxiety. Steamers of'the Croydon's typo come down under easy stcnin," and a (lay or two one way or the other was not :i serious matter.
