Lord Haldane, Minister! fdr War, speaking at Gateshead, in replying to Mr. Bonnr Law, said that the references to obsoMv weapons was due to ;i casual remark by Lord Roberts, who had no opportunity of studying, at close quarters, the new Howitzer, which was the finest in tho world, and the field gun was tho best, except that of tho French; tho Territorial field gun was slightly heavier, but for most purpose's was as good as the German regular field gun. HO hoped the new infantry riflo would prove the 'best in the world. The supply of horses had been greatly increased. The War Office Was introducing changes in the mechanical transport.
