Wanganui, January 27. Five hundred members have been enrolled in the Wanganui branch of the Sports Protection League. Mr. Jas. Jl'Naught has been elected secretary, and Mr. J. T. Jluir treasurer.
Apropos of the reported failure of the eighWiour nursing system at Wellington Hospital, it is understood by the local press, though it is not officially stated, that the medical superintendent and the matron of Wanganui Hospital, where the system has been in operation for several years, are not in favour of a rigidly-en-forced system of eight hours' duty, as this is said to bo distinctly against" tho successful carrying out of the treatment ordered by the medical staff, and not in 'the best interests either of tho training of the nurses or the welfare of the patients entrusted to their care.
