(Bj TelccraDh.-EDecial Correspondent.) Palmerston North, January 28.

A now school on Cameron's Line, near Palmerston, will he opened to-morrow afternoon. Amongst those who will take part in the function will bo Mr. V. I'irani (chairman of the Wanganui Education JJoard) and Messrs. D. H. Guthrie, E. Newman, and D. Bnick, M.P. In connection with the erection of this school, it is worthy of note that Mr. R. I/evin materially "assisted in its establishment by his gift of one acre of land, another acre being purchased from him. Other settlers also assisted with, liberal donations in cash.

The Manawatu Motor-Cycle Club will hold a club run to Foxton during the first week of next month, and will hold a reliability trial to Wanganui and back on Easter Monday. The membership of the club is now sixty.

A sitting of the Conciliation Council will be held in Palmerston North on February 12 to consider tho claims of the Plumbers' Union for a fresh award. Messrs. A. W. Thompson and A. Jack (Palmerston), and T. Bnllinger (Wellington) will represent, the Manawatu employers.

The official opening of the Men's Social Club , in Cuba Street will take place on Thursday evening, when the Mayor will officiate.

The Auckland touring bowling team, comprising six rinks, will play a game at Palmerston to-morrow.

Mr. W. Squire, who has for many years been connected with the firm of Sollitt Brothers, bnt who is now severing his connection to start business on his own account, was yesterday presented irith a silver tea sen-ice, by the firm, the presentation being made by Mr. Sollitt, managing director.

A largo crowd of peoplo assembled at the show grounds this afternoon, when the Palmerston North Brass Band, under Conductor Berryman, rendered a fine programme of mu&ic, including the test pieces to be played at the .Gisborne contest. The band acquitted it.stl'f excellently, and tho music was much enjoyed.
