(Before Mr. A. Crooke; S.M.) For insobriety Kichard Orchard Jones was fined 10;.; and Jficheal Kiely was sentenced to one month's imprisonment. Kiely wus also fined Xi for breaking a prohibition order. William Thompson pleaded guilts to a charge of stealing £3 belonging to Frederick Bird. Bo was fined JS. Charles Croucher, captain of the s.s. Kiripaka, was accused of carrying to sea a seaman (John Davis), from Wellington to Patea and hack, without having entered into an agreement with him. After hearing an explanation by the defendant, his Worship' remarked that the trouble seemed to have arisen out of a misunderstanding. Ho convicted the defendant and ordered him to pay 9=. Court costs.
