REBELLION IN TIMOR.
EIGHT FOREIGNEES KILLED. By Telegraph—Press Association—Cooyriith J Sydney, January 25. The steamer Empire, which has arrived at Thursday Island from Timor, reports that the natives there are in rebellion. Eight Portuguese residents were killed in fighting which extended over a week. The cause of the outbreak is unknown. The Empire brought official messages for transmission to Macao asking for tin assistance of ;SOO troops and a cruiser.
