CHAMBER OF COMMERCE.

iThe council of the Wellington Chamber oi' Commerce met yesterday, Mr. H. C. Tewsley presiding. There were also present Messrs. G. Wilson, A. Leigh Hunt,' C. W. Jones, A. E. Maben, A. A. Corrigan, W. G. Duthie, and A. E. Donne. Mr: A. E. Hislop, Victoria Street, was elected a member of the chamber. It was decided to hold the annual meeting, and to have a dinner in the evening, during the second week of March next. The secretary to the British Imperial Councilof Commerce, notified that the eighth congress of chambers of commerce of the Empire would open in London on January 10, 1912. Remits were invited, «ind it was stated that the final draft programme wonld bo issued not later than March 15, 1912. , The council appointed Mr. W. G. Duthie, who will be in London at the time, to represent it at the congress. A committee was appointed to revise and standardise the mercantile charges, commissions, etc., levied in Wellington. A report of the discussion of the Arbitration Act by the chamber appears elsewhere.
