THE ARIZONA'S CARGO. (Rec. January 25, 0.15 a.m.) Brussels, January 24. . Replying to a question in tho Chamber, the Minister for Foreign Affairs stated that tho Government was not aware that tho officers of the steamer Arizoua contemplated an illegal act, and ho was now inquiring whether it was possible to prosecute the owner and captain.
The steamer Arizona, was seized by the. Customs authorities at Gravesend in Aug. ust, on information received from a South American Republic, on the ground that itho wns fitted fn Britain for warlike, operations against a friendly State. Tho vessel afterwards went to Belgium, proceeding from there to Paraguay, where she landed ,£IOO,OOO worth of war material, and .£225,000 in gold for the rebels.
