The couple were left in charge of Mack's selection, and on Mack returning a few day.s. ago he found the house open and no one about. A search disclosed Ihe remains of a fire in the bush, in which were the remnants of a woman's clothing, a charred leg and skull and other bones. A man supposed to be Ball visited the hotel on Tuesday night and cashed Mack's cheque.

Next morning he purchased a ticket at a railway station twenty miles distant. A warrant ha 3 been issued for Ball's arrest ou a charge- of murder,
