(Br Tclecranh.—Soecial Correspondent.! Palmerston, January 22. Frederick M'Sherry, seventeen" years of age, was brought up at tho V'oliee Court (his morning before Mr. A.'D. Thomson. S.M.. on a charge of breaking and entering the Palmerston Drill Shed and damaging property belonging to tho Government to the value of cES. lie was remanded till to-morrow. The prizes donated by Mr. S. Paul and Mesa's. Millar and Giorgi, for competition by members of the Himitiuigi Rifle Club, have bam won by Riflemen 0. and R. Rand respectively. The distances of the competition wore five, six, and seven hundred yards. Charles Cookslev, fourteen years of age, who received a charge of shot iu his arm yesterday through his gun accidentally exploding while getting through a fence at Bainess, is doing as well as can be exprctcd in the Palmerston Hospital. It is not yet known whether it will Ire necessary to amputate the arm, but there is hope of saving the limb. Palmerston master plumbers have appointed Messrs. A. W. Thompson, A. Jack, and T. Ballinger to represent them at a sitting ol' the Conciliation Council, to bo held here within tho next few days. Beautiful weather prevailed to-day, and many picnics were held, mostly by tho various churches. Tho Ashhurst Domafn was especially well patronised.
