GREAT GATHERING AT WAXGANUL (By Telccraon.—Tress Association.) Wanganui, January 22. Tho Wanganui Caledonian Society'! 29th annual gathering was held to-day in glorious weather. There was an enormous crowd /present. A. Holmes'won tlic ono mile and halfmile cvcling races, and M. Ford tho lap dash. In tho 120 yds. amateur race W. Darby won from J. Goss in 11 l-ssec. Both wero local men. R; Opie was fourth. The 75vcls. amateur race was won by .1. B. Stolir, with 11. Martis second. Time, 7 4-sscc. C. Breed won tho mile flat in 4min. 2Gsoc. A. Evenson came first, J. A. Campbell second, and A. C'.-Kitto third in the 120 vds. hurdles, which wvts run in 18sec. The quarter mile flat resulted in a win for H. Martis, tho time being Slwc. The half-mile flat was won by L. M.'Donald. Time, 2min. 2 t-sscc. The 220yd,s. brncs'let was won by J. Gcss bv 1-iyds. H. Oiiie was second, and V. Williams third. Time, 22 2-ssec. The furlong hurdles, resulted :—L. Lawrence, 1; A. C. Ki!to, 2; Evenson, 3. Honours in the dancing events wero shared by .1. M'Kenzio and J. M'Kechnie, and in music by R. Jl'Kcchnie and C. M'Artnoy. Tho feature of the sporty was some really fine wrestling, the chief event of which was the struggle between Aloe Bain and Moaiui l'aiatcno for tho championship of New /.e.ihmd and .150 aside.
