MELANESIAN MISSION.
: —— (To the Editor.). Sir.—May I bo allowed again to appeal to your readers for good current novels, for the white people in the Melanesian Mission? Completo volumes of recent magazines are also very, welcome. Novels by G. Oxenham, William.G: Locke, ICato Douglas Wiggin, and such present-day writers are what aro most welcome. One of the lady missionaries, in, a letter to me recently, said it was such rest to her to bo able to take up a good novel when tired or worried. Expense to the mission funds would be saved if country donors would kindly defray railway freight; any town carrying is most generously done free of charge by one of tho city firms. Contributions, or gifts of money, to be expended on books, should reach me before February 28.—0n behalf of the Melanesian Missionaries, I am, etc., MISS MARJORIE K. MESTAYER, "Sunnybank," 139 Sydney Street, Thorndon, Wellington, New Zealand. ■ January 19, 1912.
