THE GUILD AND THE U.S.S. CO. Representatives of tho Union S.S. Coin* pany discussed with members of the-Mer-chant Service Guild -on Saturday certain matters relative to terms of work and paj' offered to the officors by the Liu on Company some months ago. what was offered was kept secret to all except ollicors in the' wsrvice, but it is understood that they refused to accept the raws and hours. This conference was an attempt to cet ovor the difficulty crratcd. Jhe proceedings wore all .conducted in private, and, ns members of the guild,wiu have to lx? consulted on micshons it may I>o some weeks bofor© anything definite can be made known.
