GOOD TEMPLARS.
The weekly sessions of the 'Pioneer Lodge No. 11, 1.0.G.'1'., was held in ths Bcchahile Ball, Manners Street, on Mondav night. Bro.' C. S. Kelly, C.'l\, presidiug. After the routine business had been dealt'with the lodge was thrown open to visitors, of whom there'was a large attendance, thoe including Sis. Grimlev (England), Bro. 1 sill,' Mr. Kennwlv, M.A., LL.B. Bro. A. 11. Thomson, (i.C, occupied the chair. Addresses wero given by the chairman, Sis. Grimlev, and Bro. Isitt. An enjoyable programme, arranged by Sisters Allan and M..Hiehards. was contributed to by Misses Campion, I'epper, Pothorick, Barrett. Cochrane. Messrs. Partridge (2), and Culverwidi. The following resolution was carried unanimously: "That this Lodge of Good Tern-, plars desires to draw atvcnlioji to tl'.«fact that, notwithstaiiding that an absolute majority of votes was cast in favour of the'prohibition of the liquor traffic last month in this Dominion, tho will of the people, as expressed at tho poll, is defeated by the iniquitous handicap of the lhrce-nft])s majority, as at present required. Wc therefore call upon all Temperance workers to unite in_ an endeavour to bring this unjust handicap to an end, and call upon the new -Parliament to make an amendment to tho licensing laws at next session, so that tho will of the people, as expressed at tho poll, shall become, law." -
