His Excellency the Governor is at Itotorua. Sir Joseph Ward, Lady Ward, and Miss Ward arrived at Nnpicr yesterday, en route for Taupo. The lion. J. A. Millar is at Taupo, the lion. 'J'. Mackenzie at Papatowai I'Olago), and the Hon. A. T. Ngata at Port Awanui. The Hon. D. Buddo, the Hon. H. M'Kenzie, and Sir Jas. Carroll are in Wellington. Mr. Edward Xewmnn, M.l'., will be amongst those who will deliver addresses at the meeting to be held by tho Deform party in Die Town Hall, Auckland, on January 21. Sir. A. Wells Newton, who has been in practice as a surveyor and civil engineer in Wellington for some years past, and . who previous to that was well known as ongincer to the Hutt County Council, has now severed his conucction with this city. Mr. Newton will continue the practice ot his profession in Christckurch, in con* junction with Mr. A. D. I'atersou, well known as a civil engineer in that city. The Rev. A. 11. Colville, vicar-elect of St. Mary's Anglican Church, New Plymouth, is expected to arrive in Wellington on Tuesday next. Mr. George Willoughby, the well-known actor-manager, at one time a partner of Mr. Edwin Geaeh and Mr. Hugh Ward, has been appointed managing director of the theatrical film of George Marlow, Ltd., which controls the Adelphi Theatre, Sydney, and the Princess Theatre, Melbourne. Mr. Marlow is to leave Sydney for England in March to engage several t attractions, not altogether melodramaHc in character, with which he will keep the firm's theatres supplied for the next year or two. Mr. Albert Young, of Christchureh, who has invented an ingenious machine for folding and wrapping newspapers, circulars, etc., in one action, leaves for England to-day with a view of placing it on the market. A Wfellington-Christi-cliurch syndicate is behind tho venture. Messrs. Henry Roberts, Donald Walker, R. S. Hoskins, F. J. Smith, and C. R. Adnmwn, of .Sydney, and Mr. J, C Eaton, i of Melbourne, arrived in Auckland by the i Malieno on Sunday. They all intend tonr- , ing New Zealand. 1 Mr. P. J. London, of Sydney, is a visitor to Wellington. Our Palmerston correspondent states , that on Monday evening at the Royal Hotel, where members of the New South Wales Totalisator Commission are staying, Mesdames Levieu aud O'Connor, wives of members of the commission, made a presentation to Mr. Robert Hollis, 1 M.L.A., tho occasion being his Cist birth- ' day. | . The Anglican Archbishop of Sydney , (Dr. Wright), who, as previously announced, is to spend a month's holiday In ; New Zealand, 'will arrive in Wellington early next month. Captain Rassaiu, late of the Defence Forces, left Auckland for Sydney by the Malieno on Monday last. II r. W. J. Napier, barrister, of Auckland, arrived from the north by the Main Trunk last evening. ; Mr. Eugene Wolff, of Berlin, is at present on a visit to Auckland, and will leave shortly for the south.
