CHAPMAN-ALEXANDER MISSION.
Tho "N.tf. Methodist Times" of January 13, referring to tho Chapman-Alex-ander niissinn, states:—"New Zealand lias not been fairly dealt with by the Mission Arrangement Committee, though it is difficult at present to know who is to blame. Whim tho mission party, through its Australian Committee, submitted their 1912 proposals to New Zealand, tho proposals contained a promise that the mission should be hold fur ten days in each of tho four citirs, commencing in February or March of tlio present year. The name- proposals contained also the condition that towards tho travelling expenses of tho missioiiers iS'ew Zealand must forward to headquarters by tho ond of October, 1911, a sum of between .£3OO and Ji-100. Tho condition, with no littlo inconvenience, was fulfilled, and tho money forwarded. Now, it appears, without consulting Now Zealand, the plans have been changed, and (lie dates set aside. The four cities of New Zealand insist that, tho original undertaking shall be fulfilled. Tins, however, is quite impossible, and tho only satisfaction we can ge't is contained in si cablegram sent i his week by Mr. Sprigg, of Melbourne: 'Trying to nn-ango suitable dates for Now Zealand.' Wp arc not surprised at tho irritation that this lias caused, lwt wo must act; with wisdom and not in auger. Let us wait until full explanations are to hand, and, above all, keep tho door open if possible."
