The Italian commander in the Red Sea reports that, being convinced that a number of Turkish gunboats are concealed at the I'arsan Islands, he determined to carry out a driving movement, with a view to simultaneously dislodging large bodies of troops at Coheia aud Kunfuda. The cruisers Calabria and Puglia bombarded Coheia in order to divert the enemy. They destroyed the fort, and routed a column of troops with camels. Meanwhile tho cruiser Piemonte and two destroyers scoured the coast of Jeddah southwards. They sighted seven gunboats; An action was opened at a distance of six thousand metres. Land batteries supported the gunboats. A three hours' battle ended at nightfall, the gunboats retreating. Some were beached, and their demoralised, crews landed in cover of darkness. The destruction of the battered gunboats was completed in thp morning. One of the gunboats was 500 tons, and another 350 tons. Tho Turkish troops abandoned Kunfuda, where the Piemonte remains collecting tho abandoned war material.,
