AGREEMENT IN SIGHT.
OWNERS AND CARGO WORKERS, The conference of waterside workers and their employers, which opened, ill Wellington on Wednesday last, is to one to-day. This was definitely stated yesterday by leading delegates. Mr. C. Moldsworth, general inuiiuger of I lie Union Steamship Company, said, on being questioned, that the conference would end today "one way or the other."
Mr. JI. Semplo, organiser of the Federation of Labour, said that a definite announcement would bo mado to-day, and added that he hoped the news would be good. Any official information in regard to the negotiations which have taken place up to the present time was refused. It was learned unofficially, however, that tho work of Ihe conference so far has been restricted to formulating a basis of' agreement, and that no part or seel ion of the projected comprehensive agreement has as yet been formally ratified.
The conference resumes this morning, and it is- generally anticipated (hut a complete working agreement will be the outcome.
