i On Saturday evening at the Railway Sociul Hall, the members of the Nupier-Tanuiaki-Manawatu Uailway Sick Benefit Society presented its secretary (Mr. W. l'epper) with an illuminated address album an the occasion of his retirement from the railway service on superannuation. Mr. A. Cassio (branch representative) presided, and there was a good attendance of members and friends. Several toasts were honoured, and musical items were contributed (luring tho evening by Messrs Windsor, Boyd, Cassip, Murphy, Bates, Crammer, and Brown, Mr. Baker presiding at the piano. The chairman, in proposing tho toast of the guest, spoke in high praise of the manner in which Mr, Pepper had conducted the society's affairs during the past 21) years, concluding by making tho presentation.'
