Dalgely and Company, Limited (Palmorston North branch) report:—At our Fending sale, on Friday, we had a very good yarding of sheep and cattle, and a total clearance was eil'ected, with the excsption of one small lien of cattle. Cull mixed two-tooth;, Bs.; mixed-age shorn ewes, with small percentage shorn lambs,' 6s. 6d.; mixed woolly lambs, good, 10s.; young ewes, to lis. 6d.; forward swop, 10s. Id.; six-tooth ewes, t3s. 6d. to Ms. Id. A line of 903 foiir-tooth wethers realised 13s. lid. Cattle: Weaner steers, 3%.; Jersey weauer heifers, £5 65.; two and a halfyear heifers, to £3 175.: fat cows, to £5 165.; good fat heifers, to £7 If. Messrs. Dalgety and Co., Ltd., report on their Upper Hutt sale, held on Friday, as follows:— We submitted a largo yardinj of cattle, but a poor one of sheep to a lar;:e attendance of buyers. Kidding for cattle was not so'keen as at previous sales, hut wo practically cleared the yards afterwards. The following prices were realised :—Four-tooth wethers made 14s. 10d.; two-tooth wethers, small, 65.; springing cows, £5 to £7 55.; cows in cnlf, £5 to £6; heifers in ca.lf, .S3 (o £4; 18-montbs heifers, £3: two and a half-year st n er-< £3 75.; 18-month3 steers, £3; yearling steers, £2 25.: fat cows. light. £4 17s. 6d.; store cows, £3 6s. to £3 10s.; bulls, £2 Its. to £3. The New Zealand Loan and Agency Co., Ltd., report:—At Feilding, on Friday, we had a fair yarding of both shc2|i and cattle. Competition for all classes of slock was keen, and we effected a total clearance, at prices in vendors', favour. Two-tooth ewes, 12s. 4d. to 13s.;' two-tooth wethers, 11=. to 135.; cull twotooths (mixed), 75.; forward empty ewes, 10s. 2d. to lis. 2d.: mixed-age ewes, 10s.; heifers in calf, £3 175.; store cows, 355.; forward cows,- 11 15j. to £1 lis. 6d,; bulb, £a IDs. •

I'Daimevirke branch) report :—At Makotuku, on Wednesday, we had a medium entry of both sheep and cattle, all of which met with excellent competition, ;i tutal clearance being effected. Two, four, and six-tooth wethers, 135.; four and six-tooth cull wet hers, ICV. Bd. ; forward awes, lis. 7d.: fat ewes. Us. 7d. ; rat heifers, £4 45.: fat bullocks, small, £6 65.; stole cows. £3 5?.; dairy cows, from £3 ss. to £6 2s. 6d.; 15-montlia heifers, £3 35.; 15-nionths steers, £3 Is.; weancrs, small, £1. On Friday we held a- clearing sale of dairy cows at Hu-umati, on account of Mr. Jas. Hart. There was a good attendance of local settlers, buyers also being present from Woodviile, Carterton, and Norsewood. The herd was a very good one, some of the cows having very high tests. Competition was keen right throughout, and price.; realised ranged from £4 to £19, the whole herd of 33 cows, including two-three teaters, averaging £7 3s. 9d. per head, which, considering the time of the year, must be considered highly satisfactory. Fifteen-months heifers, £2 165.; 15-months steers, £2 135,; bulls, £2 7s. 6d. to £3 10s.; store cows, £1 lfo. to £3 55.; forward cows, £3 7s. 6d. to £4: faf cows, £4 to £5 2s. 6d.; cow, in milk, £7. On Tuesday last, at my fortnightly sale in the Stratford yards, I had a good yardiu'g, cattle coming forward in excess of advertised numbers. Uidding was good, and, with one exception, every line was cleared mostly under the hammer at improved rates. The first wcaners in these yards for this season were mixed lots, the better of them, some well-grown Jersey heifers, realising XI 1Z». to £1 17s. 6d.; other wcaners (much > poorer cattle), 10s. to £1 Is.; yearling to 18months heifers, £2 10s. 6d. to £3 2s. 6d.; yearling to 18-months steers, £1 14s. to £2 14s. 6d.; yearlings, mixed, £2 10s.; bulls, £2 10s. to £4 13s. 6d.: two-year steers, coloured, £3 14s. 6d.; others, £4 7s. 6d.; store cows, £3 Bs. 6d. to £3 125.; forward cows, £3 16s. to £4; fat cows, £4 ss. to £4 lis. On Wednesday last at Stony River, I had only a small yarding and attendance, and consequently business during tho day was not so good as at former sales. I had several pens of wcaners yarded, but only tho better and stronger calves were sold. Aii exceptionally nice, well-grown lino of Shorthorn weancrs was yarded by Mr. W. Greenway. These met with very good competition, and realised £1 17s. 6d. for the steers; and the balance, £1 lis.; ordinary wcaners, £1 Is.; yearling to 18-months heifers, £2 ss. to £3 ss. 6d.; two-vear heifers, £3 125.; two ; year steers, £3 10s. to £3 14s. 6t1.; fat cows, £4 125.; grade bulls. £3 to £6 4s. 6d.
