WELLINGTON DEFEATS THORNDON. ' The I second game of the water p'olo Benior championship was decided on Saturday, when Wellington- defeated last year s champions (Thorndon) by two goals to one. The victory was well deserved, and imparts greater interest in the contest. It was the general opinion that the Thorndon team, with its speedy players, would have-little trouble, in winning, but their slower opponents displayed a greater knowledge of the game, which stood them in good stead in the last few minutes of the play. In tho first spell Thorndon had a little the better of the play, and on several occasions pressed'hard. H-ealy fed his men well, but the forwards could;not put on 'the finishing touches, this being in part due to 'careful marking on the part of: Bridge and Kelly. In the last minute of the spell, however, Healy landed a goal. Gosling, for Wellington, mode agood shot,-the ■ ball striking the bar and passing over the top. -- On changing 'both teams worked'hard to score, and 'Haima'scored for Wellington' from a gcod' •shot, thus equalising the points. ■ With only a couple of minutes left, the game ' became exciting.
