YACHTING. 'THE RACES ON SATURDAY. The' good fresh north-westerly gale which. prevailed oa Saturday compelled yachts competing in races to reef. Tho Port Nicholson Yacht Club decided two events—one for first-class yachts and tho other for second-class craft. Siren carried off the first-class yacht race, and Lizzie the other. An exceptionally good performance was piit up by the yawl Kawene. She started 15 minutes late, and was only beaten by'tho scratch yacht by one. minute. ' Towards tho finish of the races tho wind eased up, and miwlo sailing conditions a little more comfortable Tho following axe tho results of the races i— ■ .■' First-Class Yachts. Siren flGinin.) ...... 1 Ailsa (llmin.) 2 Muratai (lOrnin.) 3 ' The scratch boat' in this Tace—Waitaugi—did not start, and Muritai started 13 minutes late. ' Siren rounded KoroKoro buoy first, and was followed by Ailsa, and then Jluritai and Nancy Stair, the latter two .baing together. _ The finishing times are as follow:—Siren, shr. lOmin.'; Ailsa, shr.
