* STATES AS CO-PARTNERS. By Te!ecrai>h—Press Association—Ooarrieh* Melbourne, January 13. The Federal I'rimo Minister (Mr. A. Fisher) has announced that tho Federal Government desires the States, as co-part-ners in tlie Commonwealth banking scheme, lo have a controlling interest, besides sharing the responsibility and profit. If tho States decided to throw their Savings lianks into the Commonwealth institution their per cent, indebtedness to Savings Banks will lx> at first call. They will be allotted loans from future business. Mr. Fisher will suggest that the States will have 75 per centum and tho Commonwealth 05 per centum of the new business. The matter will be discussed at the Premiers' Conference.
