MAGISTRATE'S COURT.
(Before Mx. VT. G. Biddcll, S.M.) BURGLAR'S OUTFIT. CHRISTMAS MORNING SCUFFLE. CAUGHT RED-HANDED. At the Magistrate's Court yesterday, Bruno O'Mollcr, alias Oscar Kossul, was charged with having in his possession by night certain instruments of house-break-ing—one jouiniy, three wedges, one hack saw, one pair of tongs, and one kcyholo saw. It was also charged against him that he had entered ttie premises of Kiish aud Uoodcr, iuid stolen a quantity ■ of jewellery, valued ut XV. 'iho fact that there was something wrong at the (.remiwes was discovered by a nigiitwatchman, who said that at about 4.311 a.m. on December 125 he. noticed that a bar of the window had been cut away. Ho told Constable Slcctli of this, and then returned to the shop, where he came face to lace with O'Moller, who was then getting out through Iho window. On seeing wicness approaching, O'Mollcr went back into tlie building, and endeavoured to escape by a siue-<k>or. To do this ho had to undo a bar, and as he Came out of tlie doorway ho rushed at witness with this bar as a weapon. 'Witness evaded a blow, and O'ALoller then dropped the bar, and ran away. Witness chased and caught the fugitive, who then- staled that he wouid "give in." Wlien the shop was examined it was found that a quantity of jewellery was strewn about. Constable Sleeth deposed that certain articles of jewellery were found on accused. O'Mollcr had said that the housebreaking tools found wcro his, and he also said that it was a good job that he had not had a giin.. When witness mentioned tho bar, O'Mollcr said that it had only taken five minutes to saw through. Accused pleaded guilty to both charges, and was committed to the Supreme Court for sentence. SURPRISED WOMAN; AND IMPUDENT INTRUDER. Albert Neilson was charged with stealing tivo tablecloths and various other articles, valued at £i, from the dwelling of Alice Hall. In the courso of her .evidence, Mrs. Hall 'stated that she was in her house on tho night of the occurrence, and heard someone enter. She imagined that it was her husband coming home, and said "Is that you, Jack?" When, however, she saw ttiat it was a strange man, she demanded to know what he wanted. He replied that "what he wanted ho would take," and proceeded to help himself to things in the kitchen. She questioned him as to who he was, and he replied, "Never mind." He had a stick in his hand, and ordered her to keep quiet or he would use it. He then collected some articles, put them .under his "arm, and walked out. Naturally she was very frightened, and was therefore hardly capable of saying what condition tho man was in. The accused, who was represented by Mr. H. F. O'Leary, pleaded guilty, and was committed for sentence. OTHER CASES. Serious charges against two boys were dismissed. The boys were represented by Mr. A. If. Herdman. For using bad langnago on Glasgow Wharf, Albert Victor Hills was fined JE2. For threatening behaviour, Henry ■White was fined '.£2, and Joseph I'oultenay 10s.
