LETTER BY THE FERRIES CO.
ON PRESENT TROUBLE. There is practically nothing new to report in connection with tho dispute between the Wellington Steam Harbour I'piric3 Co. aud tho employees on the steamers. Mr. G. G. Farland, secretary of the Wharf Labourers' Union, received the following letter yesterday:— "Dear Sir,—Referring to my lotter of (he 4tU instunt, 1 havo now to inform yon that a meeting of my board was held to-day (Monday). It was resolved that tho company is willing to join with the men in applying to tho Arbitration Court for a fresh award. It is obvious that nny arrangement made in contravention of tho award would not bo binding on either side. In tho interests of tho rosidents round tho harbour and of the travelling public, tho directors consider it necessary to safeguard any arrangement made by having it in acoordanco with the law provided for the purpose of dealing with such matters. "Signed) E. G. F. Zohrab, manager Wellington Harbour Steam Ferries Company."
