COUNCIL STANDING FIRM.
TO THE TEAM UNION. A. private and informal meoting of the City Council was hold yesterday, at which tho recent letter of the Tramways Union, declining to proceed in the inquiry into charges laid against Inspector JMUIer, save on stated conditions, was discussed. . That councillors decided to stand firm in the matter may bo gathered from the met that a letter was subsequently dispatched to the union, notifying it that mo meeting of thu council, to continue the inquiry, will lake place to-dav, as previously arranged. The council will then be prepared to hear evidence on cither side, and tho parties may bo represented by counsel if they so desire.
