A Golden Wedding. Says our Feildiag correspondent :—Mr. and Airs. Yalm AlandaiU, of Church Street, who have been resident in I'eilding for the past nineteen years, celebrated their golden wedding this week. They were married in Christiania, Norway—their native city—and when they came to New Zealand in 1872 they had a little daughter with them, their only child. Mr. and Mrs. Maudahl landed lit Napier, and before settling down in l-'eilding had seen a good deal 01 New Zealand. The daughter is now Mrs. Jlartenseu, and resides in the Auckland district. Miss Amy Murphy's Dresses as "Nadina,". Some very picturesque and fascinating Bulgarian costumes arc worn by Miss Amy Murphy as Nudiiia in "The Chocolate Sol- ; dier/' one of silver grey crepe de chine, sown with steel sequins, and draped with braid fringes of grey silk, is especially elegaiit. Another charming dress is of biscuit-coloured satin and pistoclu , greeu. trimmed with gold braids and tassel*, but the most striking and characteristic ol all, perhaps, is t'..j white satin bridal gown, very beautifully embroidered in gold. "With this handsome frock, Miss Murphy wears a most quaint and becoming head-dress, large sprays of golden fruit and foliage, forming a sort of wide tiara, from which a veil of gold-embroid-ered net fnlls over the shoulders. In the first act, Miss Murphy appears in a dainty dressing wrap of pule pink, trimmed with brown, and white cross-stitch embroidery. The most notable feature in the costuming of "The Chocolate Soldier" is the. artistic, and often gorgeous, Bulgarian embroideries. The engagement is announced of Miss Claire "lirurv, eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs. "W. A. Drury, of Brooklyn, to Mr. John Minifle Hall, of Lake Brown, Western Australia. Mr. and Mrs. Laurence Wntkins and family are spending their holidays at Muritai, where they have taken a house for a mouth. Mr. and Mrs. Norman Brookes, who arrived from Christchurch on Sunday, left .again on Monday afternoon for ltotorua, 'where they intend staying for a few , weeks. Dr. and Mrs. Tolhurst returned from Hanrner by tho Maori on Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. King were also passengers by tho same steamer. Mrs. H. M. Gore and family left yesterday- for Alfredton, whore they will bs the cuests of Mrs. P. Nelson. Lady Clifford went south by the Christchurch boat last night ■ Mr. T. \V. Hislop's houso on Salamanca Koad has bwu taken by Mr. and Mrs. E. A. Holmes.' Mr. and Mrs. M. Myers, who went Home for tho Coronation, are returning by the Moeraki on Wednesday. Mrs. Aubrey Humphreys, of Napier, has' been staying for a few days with her mother, Mrs. Ifoggard. Mr. and Mrs. Humphreys have just concluded a motor tour of tho West Coast. Mrs. J. Abbott is staying with Mrs. Charles Pharazyn, in Sydney. Miss Lulu Brandon is also holiday-making in New South Wa-les. Mr. and Mrs. James Dykes, who havebeen spending the holidays at the Marlborough Sounds, have returned to Wellington. Mrs. W. Watson and her two daughters, who recently returned from a long visit to England, are staying out at Seatoun. Mrs. J. M. Geddis and family aro at present livitig at Day's Bay, where thoy have a summer residence. Miss Una Geddis is visiting Hanmer Springs. Mr. and Mrs. Leo Buckeridge are visiting'relatives in Nelson. They will be returning to Wellington at the end of thisMiionth. Miss Amy Kane, who has been staying at Queenstown. and Lake Wakatipn for the last three weeks, returned to Wellington on Sunday. Mrs. Kane has spent the holidays at Trentham. Dr. and Mrs. Crawford, of Wanganui, are staying at Seatoun. Mr. and Mrs. Adams are staying for the holidays at the Portage Accommodation House, Mailborough Sounds. Lady Ward and Miss Eileen Ward are leaving town for a few weeks' stay in the Taupo district.
