ARRIVAL OV A "LOW PRESSURE." Those who have basked in (lie generous sunshine of the Inst three days will bo depressed to hear that a "low pressure" has arrived uixm the scene, the advance agent of wind and rain. "Present indications," reported Mr. I?. ■V. Pomberton, acting-meteorologist at the : Government weather bureau last evening, on the general prospects at 5 p.m., "disclose the passing of a low-pressure system over the country, with the prospect of general rain', probably heavy on the West Coast of tho North Island, the East Coast of the South Island, and about Cook Strait." The indications also point to the fact that the performance will/bo opened with n blast from the north, with interesting but unpleasant variations. '
