TWO PEOPLE AND THE TRAIN. air TeleeraDli.-Fresa Association.! Thames, January 7. A shocking accident occurred on Saturday night on the Kauaeranga Kivor-Rail-way Uridgc near Thames. Upon the arrival at Thames of the 9.20 train, tho driver, on making the usiinl examination of the engine, discovered a man's cop on the front.portion, anil blood stains. The police were communicated with and a search disclosed that two, persons had met death with startling suddenness. One body was that of Walter Miller, 30 years of age, a local carrier. It was found in the river, while tho body of a hnlf-castc Native 'woman,. Kri To Perc, aged -10, was found on;the bridge. ,'
Exactly how' tlio fatality occurred is a mystery. The engine-driver did not feel any bump and,'.'though 'ho kept ti good look-out, ho saw no one. The presumption is that the couple, not knowing of the holiday change in tho trains, thought the last train had passed, and after crossing the bridge, sat down, had fish and beer, and went to sleep.
