Mr. C. D.'Lanclvu, the Chinese Consul for New Zealand, has returned from a trip to Auckland. A Press Assocation cable message, from Rvdncy received .on Saturday morning states' that Mr. M. Myers, solicitor, of Wellington, hits returned from England, and sailed for New Zealand on Saturday. Mr. A. J- Redgrave, of the Auckland Lands and Survey Office, who is retiring from the Department on superannuation, was presented on Thursday last by his fellow officers with a marble clock as a parting Rift. Mr. H. M. Sltcet, Commissioner of Crown Lands, who made tho presentation, referred to Mr. Uwlgravo's long service, extending over 37 years, and wished him many years to come of health and enjoyment in the leisure so well earned by his long, honourable, and useful public career. Visiting and local bowlers will regret to hear of n sad bereavement sustained by" Mr. James Young, manager of the New Zealand Dairy Union; through the death of his eldest son, Wjllinm Edward Young, the event occurring at the parents' residence, Palmerston. North, yesterday morning. Mr. Young, who was a member of one of the Palmerston rinks, eanve to Wellington on Saturday to compete at the bowling tournament, but on receipt of the news returned home by the express yesterday. Tho lad had the misfortune to sustain a serious accident two years ago', but although in iv delicate state of health, his demise'was' not expected. Much sympathy will be felt for the parents in the loss they have sustained.
