TOP-DRESSING CROPS
SUCCESSFUL-IN THE WAIRARAPA. •It is stated that the showery weather Iwhich has been experienced in the Masterton district during the present season lias boon very suitable for top-dressing maize and mangles. A considerable mini>ier of farmers aro now giving top-dressing their attention, and the crops are said to Tx; responding very readily to the treatment. On somo of the farms where this system of assisting crops has been tried 1 cwt. of manure has produced marvellous 'result'!. A local farmer stated to a- "Wai.rarupa Times" reporter that mangolds and ■jnaize wore the only crofls top-dressed in the district, aiid he suggested that tho treatment might bo successfully applied to potato and other garden crops, as small farmers would tiud that as much could lx) produced from quarter of an acre treated as from -an aero untreated.
