FAMILY OF TWENTY-EIGHT.
Appearing on a judgment summons at Clerkenwell County Court in respect of a judgment obtained in 1903, Edwin Sharp, the defendant, of Xightingalo Lane, Horns#y, said ho thought the debt had been paid. •_ During the examination as to his means the defendant remarked: "I have had 28 children to bring up." The Deputy-Judge (Mr. H. B. Edge): Good gracious! • Plaintiffs' representative: How many are now alive?— Sixteen. His Honour: A family of 28! Well, Mr. Sharp, I think you ought to have tho Victoria Cross. (Laughter.) In making an order for payment, his Honour said: "I think you are a credit, Mr. Sharp. I will not make a committal order • against you. I will trust you to Say 4s. per month, the first payment on 'ecember 11;"
