Wedding at Kilbirnie. A very pretty weddipp took place at the Kilbirnio Methodist Church on Wednesday, December 27, when Miss Gladys Jorgenseii, only daughter of Mr. C. 0. Jorgensen, of Kilbirnie, was married to Mr. Henry (Jack) Hooper, of Hamilton, and of the Government Survey Department at Auckland. The Rev. F. Hands (assisted by the Rev. J. Word) officiated. The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a dress of white silk raffetas, with bridal veil and orange blossoms, and she carried a bouquet of white roses and sweet peas. Miss Edna Pear was bridesmaid, and wore a frock of crcam taffetas, trimmed with guipure insertion. Her bouquet 'was of swoet peasand roses. Mr. Norman (Mick) Day, of Hamilton, was best man.
After the. ceremony a reception vas held'at G'odber's in Cuba .tract, 'l'he guests : wore received by Mrs'. Jorgensen, who wore a frock of black duchesse satin. Mrs.-Hooper, mother of tho bridegroom, was in black tnetv, with an overdress of black voile.
The church was beautifully dcu:>rs>ted by the girl friends of tho bride. Mr. and Mrs. Hooper-left. later in the <lay for their future home at T)t"»huhu, the bride wearing a dark navy blue costume and picrrot hat. The Thousandth Baby, 1 Yesterday an interesting ceremony took place at St. Helens Hospital, when: the thousandth baby was christened! The Rev. Mr. Potter was the officiating clergyman, and Dr. Elizabeth Gunn and the nurses afterwards gave a christening party, a great many nurses who had formerly becn"pupils at the hospital being present The baby was christened Mary St. Helen. Mrs. W. Lamb (Masterton) ■ is spending a few days in Wellingtan. , Miss Tendall is staying at Muritai for a fortnight. Miss Sybil Abraham (Palmertften North) is a visitor to Wellington. Mrs. Rogers, who has beeu on a vitit to the. Bay of Islands with her brother, has returned to Blenheim. With her family she leaves on a camping expedition to thePelorus Sounds on Monday. Mr. and Mrs. P. M'Lean ,of Napier, are staying at the. Royal Oak, oh their return from a visit to tho Cold Lakes District. . ...v. Mrs. Laxnach' has gone on a visit to Ashbiirton, where she is the guest of Mrs.. Wroughton. Mrs. and Miss Petit (Dannevirke) are in Wellington, and are staying at the Grand Hotel. •

Miss E. Simpson arrived from Christchurch yesterday. Mr. and lliss Simpson, and Miss Miles, have gone on to the West Coast, and return to Wellington later. Mrs. Mainwaring (Napier) arrived in Wellington yesterday from Christchurch. Mr. and Mrs. John Peck (England) and their three daughters, were, passengers by the Uliuiaroa on Wednesday for Wellington from' Sydney. They intend to rewain for some time in'this city, and are staying at "Kenilworth." Mrs. L. Boggard (Wangnnni) arrived in Wellington on Thursday night, and is staying at "Kenilworth.' Miss Brewster and Miss Bedford, who have been taking part in tho tennis championship meeting in Christchurch, arrived in Wellington yesterday on their way bade to New Plymouth. Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Elliott and Miss J. Sibbin, of Hatuma, Hawke's Hay, aro visiting Mr. and Mrs. T. Elliott, Karori. Miss Iliorns (Wanganui) is in town, and is staying at "Kenilworth." Miss Travers returned to Wellington yesterdav from Christchurch, also Miss Well wood and tho Misses Baird (2), of Hastings. Miss Hopkinson (Westport) is spending some time with friends in Wellington.. Sirs. 11. M. Gore intends .leaving Wellington on Monday for Alfredton, where she will be the guest of Mrs. Nelson. Blenheim, Mr. Webster, of New Plymouth, Mr. Cecil Kickard, and Mr. Douglas Little. A quiet wedding took place in Gisborne Inst Saturday, when Mr. W. 11. Philp, of Hastings, was married to, Miss E. J. (Millv) Toomath, eldost daughter of Mr. and Mra. W. Toomath, of Hastings, and formerly of Carterton, writes our Carterton correspondent.
