* His Kxcellencv the Governor, accompanied by Captains Macdougall and £.-,- court, A.D.C.'s, and Mr. Guise (urivalo secretary), arrived from the south yesterday morning. I*idy Islington and Caplain Shannon, A.D.C., will arrive from Christcliurch to-day. Their Kxcellencies are to attend the performance of "Tho Chocolate Soldier" on Monday next, and on Wednesday they will give a garden party in tho grounds ot Government House between the hours of 1.30 p.m. and (i p.m. Arrangements arc being mado for their Kxcellencies and staff to go into camp at Rotoruu on January 12. The camp will be of considerable dimensions, us, including tho household staff, there will be over twenty people to provide for. Thn camp site will bo the same one as last year.
All the Ministers will be ia town to-day except the Hon. A. T. Sgata, whose present addrcts is Port Awamii. Sir Joseph Ward arrives from Christchurch this morning. Mr. W. F. Massey, Lender of the Opposition, left for Auckland by Main Trunk express yesterday, Mr. Denis Lane, one of the New .South Wales athletic team at the recent championship meeting at Wellington, was seized with illness shortly after his departure from New Zealand. On arrival at Sydney ho was removed to hospital, sull'oring from an internal complaint.—Press Association. Messrs. L. Muir and Geo. Swan, who have been visiting Wellington in connection with the new theatre that a syndicate is to erect at Wanganui, will return homo to-day by motor-car. Colonel Jlarkne??, who suffered minor injuries in the motor-car accident on the Kimulaka lJond on Monday, leaves this morning for Mastcrton. lie is still suffering from a strained wrist and a scarred hand. Yesterday was the twenty-fifth anniversary of the wedding of Mr. aud Mrs. A. A. Corrigau. Though, tho occasion was not marked by any special function, tho staff of tho D.I.C. in Wellington, of which Mr. Corrigan is the general manager, did not,allow tho event to pass unnoticed. When Jlr. Corrigan arrived home last evening, he was surprised to receive a very handsome silver rose-bowl and a pair of silver vases from the staff over which he has presided as manager for so many years. It was a thoughtful and grateful act, which shows the excellent feeling which exists between Jlr. Corrigan and thoso under him in the big emporium iu Brandon Street. Mr. H. V. Allen, secretary of the Wellington Industrial Association, has returned from a trip to Sydney aud Melbourne. He was accompanied by Mrs. Allen. Mr. M. Miller, statiomnaster, Feathers'on, has been promoted to bo relieving officer for the Otago railway section, with headquarters at Dunedin, and will take up his new duty shortly. Mr. Miller joined the service as a cadet twenty-seven years ago at Dunedin. Mr. Noel Fleming, the principal tenor of "The Chocolate Soldier" Company, who was prevented from appearing on Wednesday evening owing to a sudden attack of laryngitis, is now on the high road to recovery. It is very probable that he will bo able to sing this evening.
