MASTERTON NOTES.
9 (From Our Special Correspondent.) Masterton, January 3. Arrangements have been completed for tendering a "social" in Masterton to those who worked at the recent polls in the interests of the Reform candidates. The rainfall registered at Eketahuna during the month of December was 7.81 inches, liain fell on twenty-tour days during the month. The rainfall registered at the Upper Plain for tho same period wa.s J. 13 inches, and nt Bush Grovo (Tenui) 4.12 inches. Mr. E. Soil 1, of the staff of the Bank of Australasia at Ashburton, has been transferred to Masterton. Large consignments of wool are at present being dispatched from the Masterton railway station. Shearing has been delayed by the broken weather, and the few fino days experienced since tho holidays have caused quite a rush. A number of Wellington anglers visited this district during the holidays, and are reported to have secured good baskets of trout. I'he river and streams are in excellent condition.
