CHURCHES OF CHRIST.
CONFERENCE CONCLUDED. The Dominion Conference of the Churches' of Christ was concluded yesterday. Tho discussion on the work of the College of the Bible was continued. The report from tho New Zealand Advisory Committee was received, and showed that a fund is now in existence for assisting through college young men who dc.-iro to become evangelists. Messrs. Ilurwnrd, Gcbbie, Scott. Mudge. M'Donald, Uoiillcdge. and .1. T. Wright were appointed a New Zealand Advisory Board. It was resolved to hold lbi> next conference at Duncdiu. Tile following officers were elected:— President. Mr. C. '}'. M'Donald; vice-pre-sidents Messrs. Gebbie and Knapp;_secretary and treasurer. Mr. Stewart Wright; committee, the secretaries of the provincial conferences. It was resolved that at the next conference the first day be devoted to homo missions, the second to foreign missions, aud the third to Bible school work. Mr. J'. .1. Bull reed a paper on the "Desirableness of Establishing a Church Paper in New Zraland." A resolution was passed affirming the desirableness. The conference executive was reriuested to appoint a news editor for tho Dominion to supply news to tho "Australian Christian." Tho president and secretary of each provincial Bible School l.'uioii were appointed a committee to draw un a constitution for the Dominion Bible School Union.
The executive were requested to consider ways and moans in connection with the appointment of an . organising secretary for homo missiojs. It was roohvel that letters of condolence be sent to the relatives of Messrs. Gray, Stewart, and Anderson. The following were elected officers of (he Dominion Biblo School Union:—Messrs. Davies, Williams, Miller, Aludgc, Saunders, Callaju. A hearty rote of thanks was passed to the press for reporting proceedings. The following committee was appointed (o confer with similar committees from other religious bodies on the introduction of tho Bible into tho schools:—Messrs, Sauuders, M.udge, and Wright. II was also resolved to urge unon tho members throughout New Zealand "to support the introduction of the Nelson system of Bible reading into the schools." The'"conference emphatically protested against tho unwarrantable interference through the No Temero Decree with our marriage laws. It was resolved that this conference expresses ils plcasuiv at the recent Proliibilion volo, and thanks the New Zealand Alliance for its splendid work in connection therewith.
Votes of thanks were passed to the Wellington churches and to the retiring office-bearers.
At G. 30 a te-'i meeting was held, and a most successful conference was brought to a close by a large farewell meeting. Mr. J. L. Scott,'of Auckland, presided. Addresses wore given by Messrs. R. V. Wright, H. Grinslead, T. J. Bull, Wright, Oebbic, and Vercoe.
