CENTRAL MISSION PICNIC.
Inclement weather yesterday morniug interfered to some extent with the success of the Central Mission annual picnic. The Rev. E. 0. Biamires, with Mrs. Blainires and a party consisting mostly of school children, went over to Bay in the morning, but a great proportion of those who had intended to join the picnic remained in town. The weather steadily improved during llio day, and the number of the picnickers increased until about 150 had made the Journey across the harbour. A sports programme was arranged for the benefit of the children, and prizes were liberally distributed. Cricket and other games were played, and as a. whole the day was a pleasant one for all concerned. The party returned to town in the eveninj at seven o'clock.
It had been intended that an evening excursion by moonlight should follow (ho picnic, but it was decided during tho forenoon that it had better be postponed. It is now intended to run the excursion on a. suitable evening about a month hence, when it is anticipated that fine weather will have set in.
